blind spots

you know he says she hates you? right?

& no i don’t at all

how can you not see? she steals from you

dissing you all over town

isn’t this her problem? i’m asking for real

well yes if & but people believe her

rather than you

because liars are always believed

they put more effort in y’know

than you doing your deadpan thing

i begin to pay attention but it’s too late

her damage is done with alliances formed against

& later he asks how come you have this blind spot?

all i can say is i was raised by people

who hated me saw me only as a burden

& that took me ‘til my 20’s

long years before i finally caught on

to see what was in front of me

there was roof meals most days

but they hid the hate with smiles

not just to me but folks around

when the truth hit it hit hard

girls like these i let go of by the yard

Read this if you’ve been staying in a relationship that is slowly making you lose yourself.

The scariest part of a broken relationship isn’t always what the other person does to you.

    Sometimes…

It’s who you slowly become just to keep the relationship alive.

You start choosing your words carefully because you’re afraid of how they’ll react.

You stop bringing up things that hurt because you already know how the conversation will end.

    You become quieter.

    More patient.

    More forgiving.

Until one day, you realize you’re accepting things you would have immediately told your best friend to walk away from.

That’s when you need to pay attention.

Because love should never require you to abandon yourself just to maintain it.

You shouldn’t have to silence your intuition to keep someone comfortable.

You shouldn’t have to shrink your personality, lower your standards, or constantly ignore your own needs just to avoid another argument.

    Remember this:

Keeping the peace isn’t always peace.

Sometimes it’s simply you swallowing your pain so someone else doesn’t have to face their behavior.

And the longer you do that…

The easier it becomes to forget what you actually deserve.

Healthy love doesn’t require you to disappear inside the relationship.

It gives you room to speak.

    To disagree.

    To have boundaries.

To remain completely yourself without being punished for it.

If you have to keep breaking pieces of yourself just to keep someone else whole…

    Something is deeply wrong.

You are allowed to love someone and still choose yourself.

You are allowed to care and still walk away.

And you are allowed to decide that protecting your peace is more important than preserving a relationship that keeps destroying it.

Because the goal of love was never to lose yourself trying to keep someone else.

The right relationship won’t ask you to become smaller so it can survive.

It will give you space to become more of who you truly are.

    💛

Save this if you need the reminder that keeping a relationship should never require losing yourself in the process.
