walking up the hill

feeling my calves scream

wondering just wtf

is going on?

& i see Roly & his girl

walking down slow taking in the scenery

tho’ what i really see is

her hair bouncing in the sunlight

her smiling excited to see

someone to talk to

that gut low buzz

of another warm body

he looks at me

we nod to each other

stop for 5 say hello how’s life etc.

he tells me he feels stuck

got nothing new to work on

i’m watching her boredom

as she smiles her smile all innocent

i turn my head away

not me not today to do this to Roly

attractive tho’ she is

y’ever thought? i ask

revisiting earlier works checking out if there’s

something you might’ve missed under the surface?

he smiles thinks some & we go on

& later at yet another artists party

he’ll thank me in helping him get unstuck

as she looks at me still bored still dangerous

& i thank my intuition & luck
