now pedestrianised

looking above the shops

noting

the Georgian architecture

hints of Edwardian

& the usual 60’s brick

remembering this

& how it was when

i first arrived

recognising

for the first time

my adventures here

formed informed me

much as i guess

did the place

i came from

all concrete & new

in that i ran from there

to get here

hundreds of miles

to begin again

seeing these buildings

the structure remains

if the frontage signs

street scene

changes

we remain

the same
