Calling out to one another

I know I’ve known you before in times gone

etched in centuries rather than days.

long moments passed in terms of kings

stone formed by heat now coldered by rains

lasting briefly in extinctions and formations

of animals too beautiful to wait until we arrived again.

I see inside myself

moments you held me in times warmer than these

nights frozen held back by your arms

dates carved high on buildings

now raftered to skies and immortal wind

though memory eroded by rebirth and death.

I feel again over and over

those sunshined days of light and earth

when I was your dutiful son

strong protective father

your brother, lover,

sweet holding mother

and

finally betrayer.

You forgave me all of these

as I must forgive you too

though now I need end of intertwining paths

destinied remeetings

this everlasting foreknowledge in place of choice
