little wood

being a kid wandering

summer afternoons

exploring everything

one afternoon

dead pigs floating

bloated stinking

in the marshy pools

to tell the big people

of what I’d seen

to not be believed

incredulous

another afternoon

a woman lying in the sun

barely dressed

then my uncle

& her doing the do

the difference

I never told what I saw

years later she told me

of love of relationship

holding my counsel

all those years

before anybody knew

of her liaisons

tho’ I reckon now if I’d told

of seeing her & my uncle

that just might

have piqued their interest
